New research project launched: CIRCTimber
The collaborative research project CIRCTimber was launched in April 2026. It investigates how timber components from existing buildings can be carefully dismantled, reliably assessed, reprocessed and reused in new load-bearing structures.
The Chair of Timber Engineering addresses the technical aspects, including the assessment of reclaimed timber, probabilistic reliability analyses, and the development of suitable testing and design methods.
The developed approaches will be tested in a living lab together with the Institute of Construction Management and RWTH Aachen University and implemented in a demonstrator. The project will run until March 2029.
