Research Day at the Chair of Timber Engineering
On 1 July 2026, a research day was held at the Chair of Timber Engineering. The current research and teaching activities of the Chair were presented, and the progress of ongoing projects and their further development were discussed.
The presentations covered a broad range of current research topics. Particular attention was given to the further development of Eurocode 5 and its implementation in research and teaching. Other projects addressed digital design and manufacturing methods for bent timber structures, investigations into the structural behaviour and reliability of timber connections, and the transition from a linear timber economy to a circular model based on the reuse of timber components. In addition, studies on the use and potential of resin-impregnated compressed wood under low-temperature conditions were presented.
The visit of David from the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala was especially welcome. He used the research day for professional exchange, creating not only an internal dialogue within the Chair but also an internationally connected discussion. The research day provided a valuable opportunity for professional exchange.
