Successor to the Chair of Timber Engineering
After the retirement of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Peer Haller at the end of March, Univ.-Prof. Dr. sc. ETH Dipl.-Ing. Robert Jockwer was appointed to the Chair of Timber Engineering at the Institute of Steel and Timber Construction in the Faculty of Civil Engineering on May 1, 2024.
Prof. Jockwer studied civil engineering with a focus on structural engineering at RWTH Aachen. He then completed his PhD at ETH Zurich in Switzerland, during which he worked at Empa Dübendorf, Switzerland. After his PhD, Prof. Jockwer supervised the area of timber connection technology under Prof. Dr. Andrea Frangi at ETH Zurich. He was also involved with Swiss Timber Solutions AG. Most recently, he was an Associate Professor of Timber Construction at Chalmers University in Gothenburg, Sweden, where he was responsible for teaching and research in the field of timber construction, while also working as a consulting engineer at Timber Hub AB, focusing on the exchange between European and Asian markets.
