Excursion to the Possendorf stream and the Bahre stream
The inspection took place on September 30, 2025 at the Possendorfer Bach and Bahre watercourses. The aim was to document beaver dams, assess their hydraulic impact and collect information for further analyses (e.g. hydrological effects). Although the Possendorfer Bach is not an official study area of the project, several beaver dam cascades are located there, providing valuable insights into the natural development and hydraulic-hydrological effects of such structures.
In the stretcher, which is located within the project area, the team carried out detailed measurements of the dam geometry, flow velocity and water depth. During the survey, four newly constructed beaver dams were discovered in addition to the five existing dams, confirming the ongoing beaver activity in the area.
