Start of the monitoring program in Lobendava

On Monday, 26.05.2025, our monitoring program was launched at selected beaver dam sites in the border area between Saxony and the Czech Republic. In a joint action of the project partners CTU Prague and TU Dresden, several measuring devices were installed and measurements were carried out in the Lobendava region (CZ). The CTU colleagues set up temporary gauges at several locations above and below beaver dams to enable continuous water level measurement. At the same time, TU Dresden carried out flow velocity measurements, from which the current inflows and outflows could be determined. Thus, the first tasks of the monitoring program were implemented, which is now being expanded step by step. The aim is to provide data-based evidence of the hydrological and hydraulic effects of beaver dams across the entire discharge spectrum - from low to high water.
