Double exhibition of the EU project Res Urbanae: Dresden - Brest: The image of the city and its (re)construction
Sign language is a visual language. There are eleven photos on the card, each showing a sign for the sentence "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year" in German Sign Language. On the right is the year “2024”, with the fingers indicating the individual numbers in sign language. Under each photo is the word which gesture is shown here, the word is also pronounced in parallel. Green arrows show the direction of movement to be performed with the hands. Picture 1 top left: „Frohe“ (Engl. Happy) - the flat hands make a circular movement in front of the chest. Picture 2 „Weihnachten“ (Engl. Christmas) - the palms of the hands trace a Christmas tree. Figure 3 "and" - the index fingers form a plus sign in front of the chest. Picture 4 bottom left "Good" - index finger and thumb form a ring and are briefly moved forwards. Picture 5 "Slide" - The palm of the right hand (if right-handed) slides in an arc onto the outstretched left hand, simulating a slide. Picture 6 "new" - The left palm is held in front of the chest, while the right palm rises up behind the left palm, something new grows and emerges. Picture 7 "Year" - the right hand forms a fist, only the little finger and the thumb are outstretched, they form the letter Y of the finger alphabet and are moved in a high arc to the right side. The numbers 2, 0, 2, 4 are shown one below the other on the right-hand edge. The 2 - the thumb and index finger are stretched out and pointed forwards. Die 0 - Index finger and thumb form a ring.
