The graduate of the month February comes from geodesy
Klara Töpfer earned a degree in geodesy and has remained true to her subject and the City of Dresden. Today, she is the head of the Office for Geodata and Land Registry, whose tasks comprise collecting, updating and processing spatial information. They use their own laser scanners, drones and total stations to collect geodata, or they process existing data and images. This 2D and 3D data provides the basis for creating models for urban flood protection and matters such as mobility and transportation, energy and environment.
Everything began with her fascination for the logical. She found identifying and solving problems particularly engrossing. It’s no wonder mathematics and geography were some of her favorite subjects in school. Logically enough, she studied geodesy because she found it to be a good mix of both.
