New graduate school at the TU Dresden for the dismantling of power plant systems
With the support of Dornier Nuclear Services and PreussenElektra, the TU Dresden has launched the graduate college "Sustainable Disposal of Power Plants - Challenges and Solutions for Technology, the Environment and Society".
The graduate school Sustainable Innovative Decommissioning (SIDEC) promotes young scientists in the sustainable disposal of power plant systems. It will officially start in the 2023 summer semester and will deal with the five cross-cutting topics of industrialization, measurement and analysis technologies, sustainability in disposal and recycling, occupational safety and radiation protection, as well as process rationalization and digitalization from the dismantling of nuclear power plants. Within these topics, five doctoral projects will be initiated. The doctoral students will work both at the TU Dresden and in the respective companies and will be scientifically supervised by professors from the faculties of mechanical engineering and civil engineering. PreussenElektra finances two positions, three are supported by Dornier Nuclear Service.
