Prof. Michael Kaliske admitted to the German Academy of Science and Engineering
Prof. Michael Kaliske
The German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech) has elected Professor Michael Kaliske, Director of the Institute of Structural Analysis at TUD Dresden University of Technology, as a member. The election was made by the Academy's General Assembly on the recommendation of the Presidium.
As the national academy and voice of the technological sciences in Germany and abroad, acatech brings together over 600 personalities from science and industry. The members are active in the fields of engineering and natural sciences, medicine, humanities and social sciences and are admitted to the Academy for their scientific achievements and reputation. acatech regularly publishes positions, studies, discussions and other writings on socially and economically relevant topics and advises policymakers on future issues relating to technology science and technology policy.
Professor Michael Kaliske on his acceptance: "I was delighted to be elected. Joining the Academy of Science and Engineering is an important step for me, as it gives me the opportunity to place my own scientific expertise in a wider social context and to help develop perspectives."
Professor Kaliske has been Director of the Institute of Structural Analysis at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at TUD since 2006. His research is characterized by an interdisciplinary approach based on the methods of computational mechanics. Kaliske's research topics range from the fundamentals of structural mechanics and material modeling to practical engineering applications in civil engineering and automotive engineering.
Project on the sustainable use of the road transportation system
As spokesperson, Prof. Kaliske currently heads the Collaborative Research Center "Digital Twin Road". The coordinated, innovative and holistic basic research project is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and aims to develop a digital twin of the vehicle-tyre-roadway system to enable intelligent and sustainable use of the road traffic system of the future.
