Self-application for a scholarship from the Studienstiftung
Students in their first and second semesters can apply for a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation until February 16. We are looking for young people who are characterized by high intellectual skills and motivation as well as a broad spectrum of interests and commitment.
"We especially call on young educationalists to apply," says Dr. Annette Julius, General Secretary of the Study Foundation. “In our selection, we always appreciate the achievements and the commitment against the background of the individual life path. The scholarship is also a recognition of diverse educational biographies and offers financial security for studying at home and abroad and the opportunity to meet a wide variety of people, ideas and topics.
"With the self-application process in 2010, the Studienstiftung established another important access route to a scholarship. It gives new students who have not been proposed by their school for funding a chance to be accepted.
The participation fee for the test is 10 Euro for BAföG recipients and students from non-academic parents. All other applicants pay a fee of 30 euros. The contributions serve to cover part of the costs incurred, for example, for test development and evaluation.
The procedure
The application process for admission to Germany's oldest and largest organization for the promotion of talented students is two-stage. First of all, all candidates take part in a selection test. You can register online until February 16, 2021.
This year, the selection test can be completed on March 6th and 14th at home using a computer. During the test, the participants are supervised by a test supervisor, a so-called proctor, via webcam and screen recording. The tasks developed especially for the Studienstiftung test competencies that are important for a successful degree. Specific specialist knowledge is not required. The best in the test, a maximum of 50 percent of all participants, will receive an invitation to a selection seminar where they have the chance to convince in personal and group discussions.
The scholarship
In addition to monthly financial support, the Studienstiftung offers a comprehensive educational program, grants for stays abroad worldwide, language courses, personal advice and a network of currently 14,000 scholarship holders and over 65,000 alumni.
