Summer School | Circular Design Challenge
In cooperation with the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Chair of Technical Design, the chair of Structural Design (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Matthias Beckh) offers an interdisciplinary summer school entitled "Circular Design Challenge" during the lecture-free week (May 27th - June 4th, 2023).
In a series of short lectures, experts from various disciplines will explain the basic concepts of circular economy and systematic design. Invited guest speakers report on inspiring practical examples and show current trends in the transition to the circular economy. In a dynamic mix of theory and practice, participants will learn tools and methods for sustainable cycle design and apply them in their own design. Experts continuously accompany the design process. The Circular Design Challenge ends with a public presentation of the results.
The one-week workshop takes place in the Design Campus at Schloss Pillnitz. There is a participation fee of 150 euros, which includes food and accommodation. Students from the Faculty of Architecture receive 5 ECTS for participating in the workshop which can be applied in module AD652 "Integral planning" (elective area "project qualification" or elective area "further elective area").
