Focus on sustainability: General Assembly of the Indo-European Heritage Network successfully held / TU Dresden to host the event for the first time in 2025
The Heritage Network is an Indo-European alliance that has set itself the goal of strengthening cooperation in higher education, especially in the engineering sciences. TU Dresden has been the only German university in the network since 2019 and has been represented on the network 's Steering & Executive Committee by Ercan Altinsoy, Chair of Acoustics and Haptics and Internationalization Officer of the School of Engineering Sciences, since 2020. The network currently includes 16 Indian and 13 renowned European institutions.
This year's General Assembly took place at the beginning of April under the thematic focus "Sustainability: Teaching, Research and Innovation" at IIT Roorkee in northern India. The event included a variety of presentations dealing with different aspects of sustainability, academic education and collaboration. For example, the importance of sustainability and social responsibility in engineering, the role of academic education in promoting sustainable development and the development of collaboration indices based on joint publications were discussed. Other presentations showed case studies of sustainability projects and Indo-European collaborations as well as funding programs in the field of sustainability by the Indian government. Numerous bilateral and multilateral discussions on establishing and expanding collaborations in research and teaching took place on the sidelines of the event.
Prof. Raghunathan Rengaswamy, Dean International of IIT Madras, was bid farewell to his office as President of the Heritage Network with many thanks, as a new Presidium was elected by rotation and the presidency will be under European leadership for the next three years. Prof. Teresa Zielinska, Warsaw University of Technology, will take over his office with immediate effect; Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, Dean International at IIT Roorkee, will assist her as Vice-President.
The venue for the General Assembly 2025 will be TU Dresden from May 12-15, 2025.
