UN Day Dresden 2020: Decade on Biodiversity
Once a year, to commemorate UN Day in Dresden, we gather to discuss one of the key issues of the United Nations and its significance in the daily lives of the local community. As the UN Decade on Biodiversity draws to an end, this topic will be our focus for this year’s UN Day.
Prof. Dr. Josef Settele, Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) and IPBES Co-Chair of “The Global Assessment Report 2017”, will report on “Biodiversity and Ecosystems – global developments and options for the future”.
Afterwards, he will join a panel discussion with Ms Eva Jähnigen, Deputy Mayor for Environment and Municipal Utilities, City of Dresden, and Prof. Dr. Edeltraud Guenther, Director UNU-FLORES and discuss solutions for people and the city of Dresden with a view to preserving biodiversity.
