Until the 22nd of October 2023 an exhibition at the Air Museum Amberg provides insights into the cloud laboratory realized by Professors Ansgar and Benedikt Schulz (Professorship of Design and Construction I) for the Leibnitz Institute for Tropospheric Research Leipzig.

In 2005, the first test runs of the worldwide unique cloud simulator have already started. The simulator is used to research cloud formation processes on artificially generated clouds. Due to its unusual size, a tailor-made new building was erected especially for the cloud simulator, the Leipzig Cloud Laboratory.
