Science cinema: The North Drift
01099 Dresden
On 25.11.2022 there will be a special screening of the film "The North Drift" by Dresden filmmaker Steffen Krones at the Schauburg.
The topic of the film is the pressing problem of our garbage in the oceans, more precisely: why is German garbage found in the waters of the Arctic?
Researchers from the HTW were also involved in the film. The collaboration came about as part of the German Marine Foundation's Elbe Expedition, in which the VEMIWA junior research group from HTW Dresden participated, among others. The junior researchers Sven Schirrmeister and Lukas Kurzweg showed the film crew in the laboratory how sediment samples of the Elbe are examined for microplastics in the laboratories of the Technical Chemistry, using the thermodynamic method, which was also awarded the Saxon Environmental Prize.
Admission is free and the film will be followed by a panel discussion with
Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Kathrin Harre (Dresden University of Applied Sciences)
Dr. rer. nat. Kerstin Röske
Steffen Krones (award-winning filmmaker from Dresden)
Robby Rynek (PhD, Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research Leipzig)
Lucas Kurzweg (PhD, University of Applied Sciences Dresden)
Matthias Röder (Co-founder HolyPoly)
We kindly ask you to register bindingly and are looking forward to many interested people!
