Current Research Highlights
Central topics in the research of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences are the sustainable development of the human habitat and the monitoring of the Earth system in global, regional and local scales. The research at the faculty primarily serves the profile line "Energy, Mobility and Environment" of the TU Dresden.
Topics such as adaptation to climate change, renewable energy systems, environmental monitoring and geoinformation technologies, forestry, hydrology, limnophysics, risk and water resource management, are in focus.
Climate Change and Water Extremes
The effects of climate change, especially the associated water extremes, are a central research focus of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, which is also funded within the Excellence Strategy of the TU Dresden. We conduct research on the adaptation of natural and urban water systems to climate extremes such as heat and drought periods, heavy precipitation and flooding, but also on increasing land use change and input of pollutants. Our goal is to improve the resilience of water systems and reduce negative effects of extremes on water quality and quantity as much as possible.
Extensive information on research and teaching in this research area at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences as well as news and events can be found on the webpage of the focus topic Climate Change and Water Extremes.
