Prorector Prof. Karl Lenz presented the certificates at the annual meeting of Tharandt scientists and students with the program advisory committee members. This year, the main focus of the working meeting was the reform of the bachelor's degree in forestry and previous experiences with the master's degree based on it. But the good career opportunities for graduates of forest science courses and the external perception of the location were also topics. The training and the design of the courses were discussed in detail. In particular, the mobility window planned for the bachelor's course, which makes it easier for students to study abroad or at another university for a semester, met with a positive response. In this semester, only compulsory elective modules and an internship are to be completed. In the future, students will also be able to study modules at a university abroad and have their achievements recognized for their studies without any problems. In return, there is a wide range of modules available for students from other universities to take.
Programme advisory committee 2007-2012
On February 1st, 2007, the programme advisory committee for forest sciences was appointed in the rectorate building of the TU Dresden. Prof. Dr. Curbach, Prorector for University Planning, presented the members of the committee with their certificates of appointment and thanked everyone for their willingness to work on this body. It is the first program advisory committee to advise on study matters at the TU Dresden.
The advisory committee includes:
- Prof. Dr. Hubert Braun, Geschäftsführer des Staatsbetriebes Sachsenforst
- Michael Funk, Geschäftsführer der Zellstoff Stendal GmbH
- Peter Gaffert, Oberbürgermeister der Stadt Wernigerode, ehemals Leiter des Nationalparkamtes Kellerwald-Edersee
- Dr. J. Hess, Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit
- Ralf Pollmeier, Geschäftsführer der Pollmeier Massivholz GmbH
- Dr. Michael Sachse, Geschäftsführer des Sächsischen Forstunternehmerverbandes
- PD Dr. Ute Seeling, Kuratorium für Waldarbeit und Forsttechnik
- Dr. Reinhard Stock, Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt
Even before the actual appointment, representatives of numerous institutions had been involved in the reform of the bachelor's degree in forestry. Due to the good experiences, the Department of Forest Sciences has decided to institutionalize this cooperation in the form of an advisory board for the further development of the courses.
The photo below shows the members of the advisory committee and representatives of the TU Dresden after the ceremonial handover of the certificates of appointment.
After the appointment, a very constructive exchange took place between the members of the committee and the Academic Reform working group of the Department of Forest Sciences. The Academic Reform working group (headed by the Dean of Studies, Prof. Dr. Sven Wagner) is made up of university teachers, academic staff and students from the field and develops proposals for reforming the courses. A working session then took place in Tharandt the following day. Here, the specific plans for the reform of the master's program in forestry were discussed from a practical point of view.
