My work primarily revolves around the assessment of physiological and anatomical traits associated with tree water-use and hydraulic properties with relation to drought stress and drought-induced tree mortality.
Currently, I am assessing hydraulic traits of 100 tree species ranging from boreal, temperate and Mediterranean biomes in the framework of ARBOfun, a functional biodiversity research project in Großpösna Research Arboretum (responsible body: iDiv). My project aims to investigate the performance and hydraulic trait coordination of these tree species. By employing a comprehensive approach encompassing both field and laboratory measurements, my research seeks to identify key leaf and stem functional traits associated with water-use efficiency, drought resistance and their resilience to climate change.
