Research
Research projects at the Institute of International Forestry and Forest Products primarily relate to the diagnosis, analysis and development of forest management systems in the context of a complex and dynamic environment, focusing on various scale levels (farm-household systems, big enterprises, regional up to global level).
Research
In general, research takes place via the qualification of doctoral students and postdocs with the inclusion of the Master students. Theoretical allocation, methodical orientation, elaboration of the research plan as well as the evaluation of data are conducted and supported by colloquiums at MSc-, PhD- or project level at TU Dresden. Data survey and a preliminary analysis of results generally take place in the countries of the tropics and the subtropics. Hence, Master students during their field research can involve supervisors from science and practice. For this purpose, there is a dense network with universities and research institutions as well as with state institutions and with projects. Alumni who have chosen an academic career are increasingly represented here. As is obvious from an alumni survey, their number is rapidly increasing.
