Award ceremony for outstanding scientific publications by the Association of Friends and Sponsors of the Institute of Meteorology and Climate Research
At the annual meeting of the Friends and Sponsors of the Institute of Meteorology and Climate Research (IMK-IFU, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology) in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on October 13, 2022, two prizes for outstanding scientific publications were awarded. The first prize was awarded to Romy Rehschuh for the article "Tree allocation dynamics beyond heat and hot drought stress reveal changes in carbon storage, belowground translocation and growth", published in New Phytologist (DOI: 10.1111/nph.17815 ). This study addresses the physiological effects on carbon and nitrogen cycling in pine seedlings following drought and heat stress and is part of the Ph.D. thesis of Romy Rehschuh. The second prize was awarded to Andrew Smerald for the publication "Significant global yield-gap closing is possible without increasing the intensity of environmentally harmful nitrogen losses" in Frontiers in Sustainable Food Systems (doi: 10.3389/fsufs.2022.736394).
