Hunting as a reflection of social relations (M.Sc.): Today, Hunting is regularly perceived as conservative. We would like to contrast this hypothesis with the hypothesis that hunting, per se, is neither conservative or progressive, but still represents only a reflection of social relations. By analysis of formal and informal hunting norms from feudal societies, dictatorships and democracies, this hypothesis should be tested as part of a master's thesis.
-
Ecological footprint of different forms of land use in protected areas (M.Sc.): The designation of protected areas today includes not only protection concepts through restrictions on utilization. Rather, various traditional forms of land use (grazing, beekeeping, fishing, hunting) or other forms currently classified as extensive land uses (tourism, nature conservation) are there tolerated or even actively involved in the protection concept. In this context, it is important to consider which effects in terms of "an ecological footprint" these forms of land use entail. As part of a master's thesis, the ecological footprint of particular forms of use shall be determined.

The role of hunting guests, hunting permit holders and hunting tenants from the perspective of the persons concerned and of property ownership (B.Sc. + M.Sc.): A change in the perception of hunting action by the affected groups currently seems to take place. While on the one hand "hunting" is seen as an extensive and sustainable form of land use, there is on the other hand the view that hunting tends to be more service for the landowner. Another point of view, namely that of the hunter as a customer of the landowner, which asks the product "hunting experience", seems at present to develop increasingly. If the different approaches are consistently thought out, there will hence arise considerable consequences for those affected. As part of a survey the personal attitudes of landowners and hunters are therefore to be determined and these are discussed in regard of their implications for different user interests in rural areas.
