Biomass estimation of Araucaria araucana trees
Erico Kutchartt and colleagues felled and weighed Araucaria araucana trees to assemble values of dry bulk density and water content and to determine the characteristic relationships between stem diameter, height, and biomass for this tree species. To do this, a novel multicriteria optimization of models was performed to estimate the total aboveground biomass and that of its components trunk wood, trunk bark and foliage (branches + scaly leaves).
