Turning good modelling practices into work
Good modelling practices are crucial for scientific creditibility. They ensure that scientific workflows are accessible and reusable. Together with other colleagues, Tati Micheletti, Marie-Christin Wimmler and Uta Berger from our team now identified three key factors inherent to academic structure that are hindering good modelling practices: lack of specific training, their disregard in research budgets, and a poor academic recognition. In their article, now published in the journal Ecological Modelling, they also describe opportunities that challenge academia's status quo, but can foster an environment where good modelling practices are expected.
