"The Case of Hypezig" - New open access paper on Leipzig's club culture published

The Chair of Human Geography has published a new scientific paper that develops the results of a final thesis by Lisa-Marie Rudolph. The publication deals with Leipzig's club culture and was published in the geographical journal "Berichte. Geography and Regional Studies". The article deals with the following specific topic:

"Since the Covid-19 pandemic, club culture has been confronted with a variety of challenges that have extended to a widely postulated "club death". With the help of a series of qualitative interviews using Leipzig as a case study, we show how social crises are negotiated within club culture. Using a relational concept of place, we analyze how clubs become places of everyday subjectivation that are charged with meaning in various ways for members of the scene. As a result of our study, we discuss the crisis-like effects of the Covid-19 pandemic as well as the debates within the scene about safe spaces and the Middle East conflict using our conceptual approach."
