Textbook work from the perspective of geography teachers - an exploration of the present and future of the educational medium.

Susann Reuschel has been working on her doctorate at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences at TU Dresden since 2023.

In the course of social change processes in connection with digitality, the use of educational media, especially textbooks, faces new needs, opportunities and challenges. Teachers are themselves part of social change and the teaching profession is a constantly evolving activity. As experts in educational media, their perspectives on this change are particularly relevant. There are still gaps in subject-specific didactic research regarding teachers' perspectives on working with geographical textbooks in the media network. In a two-phase, qualitative study, the work presents teachers' current perspectives on textbook work and, based on the results of the expert interviews in the second survey phase, collaboratively develops future visions for the "leading medium" in geography lessons on the basis of focus groups.
