Revisiting Global Vegetation Controls Using Multi-LayerSoil Moisture
In a new paper published in Geophysical Research Letters, we identified controlling factors on vegetation productivity globally by using various remote sensing and meteorological datasets. We found that vegetation productivity is in many regions mostly in semi-arid grass and shrublands sensitive to soil moisture in deeper soil layers.
The work was led and mainly conducted by Wantong Li at the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry. Wantong is inscribed as a PhD student at TU Dresden under supervision of Matthias Forkel.
