PhenoFeedBacks - Annual meeting in Jena 2023
In July 2023, the annual meeting of the PhenoFeedBacks project took place at the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry in Jena, where Matthias Forkel and PhD student Johanna Kranz joined from the EnvRS team. The project focuses on understanding the bio-physical impacts and feedbacks of plant phenological changes. Changes in the energy, water, and carbon cycles of the Earth system are investigated by using physical-based modelling approaches and by combining eddy covariance and remote sensing data.
A small symposium gave the possibilities to internal project members to present their progress on phenological changes and first modelling results, and to external researchers to share research outcomes on project-related topics. The meeting further aimed to renew the focus of each workpackage and set up objectives for the coming year. An essential outcome of the meeting was the planning of a collaborative workshop aiming to produce a synthesis paper.
The meeting proved both productive and informative, providing all attendees with new perspectives and research tasks.
