Virtual Geoscience Conference 2023
The 5th Virtual Geoscience Conference in Dresden
The 5th Virtual Geoscience Conference, organized by the Geosensor group at TU Dresden and the HIF HZDR in Freiberg, was a great success. The conference commenced with a day of short courses covering topics such as hyperspectral imaging, point cloud processing, virtual outcrop mapping, and analysis of 4D data. The short course day was followed by two days of conference with talks and poster presentations of very interesting and diverse topics on digital methods to unveil the dynamic earth.
With approximately 90 participants from 21 countries, the conference was well-received, and engaging discussions emerged. A special issue of the journal PFG – Journal of Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing, and Geoinformation (https://www.springer.com/journal/41064) is currently being planned.
As the organizing team, we would like to thank all participants for their valuable contributions. We hope to see many of you again at the next Virtual Geoscience Conference. The 6th edition is scheduled to take place in two years in Lausanne, Switzerland.
