About Me
I am a Visiting Professor and Research Fellow supported by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. My home affiliation is the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), Nigeria.
Research Interests
- Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) & Mobilomics
- Environmental Metagenomics & Bioinformatics
- One Health & Priority Pathogens
Current Research Focus at TU Dresden
My research at the Institute of Hydrobiology centers on the environmental dimensions of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), microbial ecology, and wastewater epidemiology within a global One Health framework. Leveraging advanced shotgun metagenomics, bioinformatics, and quantitative molecular tools (HT-qPCR), my work explores how anthropogenic pressures, sanitation infrastructure, and urban discharge matrices shape aquatic microbiomes, resistomes, and mobilomes.
Beyond comparative cross-continental studies between German and Nigerian aquatic environments, my research program at TU Dresden focuses on tracking horizontal gene transfer dynamics, identifying environmental hotspots for WHO high-priority pathogens, and developing bio-surveillance frameworks to inform evidence-based public health strategies.
