Inspiring guest lecture by Dr. Margaret Shanafield at TU Dresden
The guest lecture by Dr. Margaret Shanafield (Flinders University / Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at the University of Potsdam) on the topic "Rainfall recharge thresholds revisited: where and when is water getting underground?" took place on February 10, 2026 in the Auditorium Center of TU Dresden with great interest.
In her lecture, Dr. Shanafield presented current research results on groundwater recharge based on extensive measurement data from the Australian National Groundwater Recharge Observing Network. The participants gained exciting insights into seasonal patterns of groundwater recharge and the importance of these processes for sustainable water management and modeling in the context of climate change.
We would like to thank Dr. Shanafield for her informative presentation and all attendees for their participation.
