Annual AGREEMAR consortium meeting hosted by the LNEC in Lisbon, 3-4 June 2024
Between 3-7 June 2024, INOWAS team attended the 8th European Congress “Water – Across Boundaries” of the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR). Before the conference, we used the opportunity and also organised an additional meeting of the AGREEMAR consortium on the LNEC campus in Lisbon, Portugal.
The meeting was organised in two half-day sessions. On Monday, 3 June, we focused on MAR governance and agreements models and discussed the work progress and the open tasks in the work packages 3 and 5. The team from UPV presented an overview on the ongoing project deliverables D3.2 and D3.3 and the results of the modelling works using the AQUATOOL decision support system. LNEC also updated the team on the results of activities related to the constellation analysis conducted at the Portuguese demo region. Further discussions concentrated on the integration of different projects outcomes into the MAR governance framework and how this can support the development of local agreements for MAR development at local scale. For WP5, the project partner adelphi updated the methodology used for the formulation of the agreements and discussed the guiding principles used in the work.
On the second day, Tuesday 4 June, the attention was dedicated to groundwater modelling in WP4. TUD provided an overview of activities, supported by brief presentations of the modelling works at the local demo sites in Portugal, Cyprus, Tunisia and Spain. The session was used to exchange experience on the groundwater modelling principles and the interconnectivity between the different modelling approaches. At the end of the meeting we used the opportunity and visited the LNEC’s research facilities.
On behalf of the entire project team, we would like to thank very much our host, LNEC, for the excellent organisation of the meeting and for hosting us during the week. We look very forward to meeting all the AGREEMAR partners again next year.
