Review of managed aquifer recharge (MAR) applications in China - achievements and challenges. Bachelor thesis, Technische Universität Dresden, June 2015
ABSTRACT
Managed aquifer recharged (MAR), a measure to transport water under various conditions into aquifers that benefit from its effect, has recently become more valuable. As in many other countries, China is also participating in MAR development. In order to comprehend the MAR application in China, the information about MAR sites was collected under the MAR classification from DEMEAU1 catalog and compared with a study of MAR data in Asia. The major language for research was Chinese and contained a wide range of data quality. Primarily MAR sites are distributed in the northeastern area and the most commonly employed MAR technology is spreading methods. Moreover, rainwater & run-off harvesting is a valuable method in China because of the summer monsoons. However, the lack of water quality data reflects that water quality control, management and monitoring have to be systematically strengthened. Furthermore, a possible theory has been formed: the intensity and distribution of MAR site is related to the degree of the average per capita water resources in the region.
