Jana Ringleb participated in the 12th EGU General Assembly 2015 in Vienna, Austria
The 12th EGU General Assembly was held at the Austria Center Vienna between 13 – 17th April, 2015 organized by Copernicus Meetings. This event brings together geoscientists from all over the world to one meeting covering all disciplines of the Earth, planetary and space sciences. The EGU aims to provide a forum where scientists, especially early career researchers, can present their work and discuss their ideas with experts in all fields of geoscience. This year’s theme was “A voyage through scales”. 11,837 scientists from 108 countries participated at the conference. 4870 oral and 705 PICO presentations were held as well as 8,489 posters were presented. 577 unique scientific sessions together with 310 side events created an interesting program. The conference was attended by our colleagues Jana Ringleb and Thomas Fichtner together with Falk Händel from the Institute of Groundwater Management. Next 5 days were dominated by listening to oral presentations from 9 am to 5 pm followed by poster sessions from 5:30 to 7 pm interrupted only by lunch and coffee breaks. The conference was a good opportunity to get in contact with other researchers which was most successful at poster sessions. Highlight of the week were Jana's poster presentation with the title “Comparison of different estimation techniques to quantify groundwater recharge in Pirna, Germany” and Thomas' oral presentation: “Determination of degradation rates of organic substances in the unsaturated soil zone depending on the grain size fractions of various soil types”.
