Dr. Girma Yimer Ebrahim from IWMI South Africa visiting INOWAS for three months
Dr. Girma Yimer Ebrahim joined the INOWAS Junior Research Group on October 24, 2017 for a two month stay under the TWAS-DFG Cooperation Visits Programme for Scientists from sub-Saharan Africa, including South Africa. After receiving his PhD (Thesis title: Modeling Groundwater systems: Understanding and Improving Groundwater Quantity and Quality Management) from Technical university of Delft and UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education, Delft (The Netherlands) in 2013 he works in the department of Hydrogeology & Water Resources at the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) in Pretoria (South Africa). During his stay with the INOWAS Junior Research Group Girma is interested in assessing Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) options for developing countries, especially in semi-arid African context. Furthermore he plans to carry out site suitability assessment for MAR application in Africa.
