INOWAS contributes to "MultiRisk" project on increasing climate resilience in South Africa
The Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology at TU Dresden is the coordinator of a definition project entitled "First drought, then rain and flood: increase resilience against multiple risks of climate change in southern Africa - MultiRisk" within the BMBF-funded program “CLIENT II – Internationale Partnerschaften für nachhaltige Innovationen”. Within this project, a delegation of eight persons from TU Dresden, UNU FLORES and private companies travelled between 01-07.12.2018 to Bloemfontein, South Africa. The aim of the trip was to participate in a joint workshop organised by the Institute of Environmental Management (IEM) of the University of Free State (UFS). Besides the German delegation, the workshop was attended by researchers from different institutes of UFS such as the Institute for Groundwater Studies (IGS), the Disaster Management Training and Education Centre for Africa (DiMTEC) etc., and also from other research institutions in South Africa and Namibia. The INOWAS group was represented at the workshop by Dr. Catalin Stefan who is responsible for a module about groundwater management and subsurface water storage in close cooperation with colleagues from the Institute for Groundwater Studies at UFS.
