INOWAS joined the Groundwater Solutions Initiative for Policy and Practice (GRIPP)
The Groundwater Solutions Initiative for Policy and Practice (GRIPP) is a framework program launched by the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) that generally aims at "securing groundwater resources for livelihoods, food security, climate resilience and economic growth while sustaining the resource for future generations in developing countries". Specifically, GRIPP promotes and supports long-term country-level partnerships; documents practical lessons and solutions in groundwater management; engages in context-specific research for development to fill knowledge gaps related to groundwater management, while acting as a catalyst for building scalable knowledge, first in selected countries, then expanding worldwide.
Starting with September 2016, INOWAS joined the GRIPP initiative with the aim to contribute in two main fields: share transferable solutions in managed aquifer recharge by providing access to the recently developed global MAR inventory (see also the global MAR portal developed together with IGRAC) and, later on, by sharing access to the free INOWAS web-based DSS for planning and management of MAR schemes (now under development).
For a better resonance and dissemination of activities, INOWAS will act in the GRIPP initiative under the Centre of Advanced Water Research (CAWR), a joint initiative of TU Dresden and the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ).
