Meeting the Vice Rector of the German - Kazakh University in Almaty, Kazakhstan
Dr. Falk Knauf, the Vice Rector of the German - Kazakh University (DKU) in Almaty, Kazakhstan, visited TU Dresden and participated in a workshop at our institute, the second in a series of events organised within the framework of the BMBF-funded project KoneFP. The aim of the project is to establish a cooperation network for research and product development in the field of water and environmental technology with Kazakhstan. During the meeting with Dr. Knauf we discussed different topics for potential cooperation between TU Dresden, DKU and its Kazakh partners, and representatives of German and Kazakh commercial enterprizes, and we drafted a general road map for future collaboration. From the INOWAS side, Catalin introduced the project and its lab facilities and expressed interest in participating in joint initiatives, especially on the development of GIS-based feasibility studies on the applicability of MAR in Kazakhstan / Central Asia. Another field of cooperation identified was on the implementation in Almaty of short-term courses on MAR, the target group being the DKU students enrolled in the Master's course "Integrated Water Resources Management", where Catalin already gave a lecture in November 2015.
