First TERESA online project seminar on stormwater management in urban areas
The first online seminar within the project TERESA was organised online on 3 December 2021 with the title "Resource saving: storm water management in urban areas". The invited speaker was Dr. Lothar Fuchs, CEO of the Institute for Technical and Scientific Hydrology Ltd. in Hannover, Germany. In his lecture, Dr. Fuchts introduced the main benefits of moving from grey to green infrastructure in urban water management and demonstrated these advantages with an example from the ecological restoration of Kronsberg city in Germany. Dr. Fuchs concluded that the sustainable resource saving approach is a challenge and the chance for the future development for new urbanized areas as well as for existing ones and that examples from different countries show that sustainable water management in urban areas is feasible and often in the long run more cost effective.
