Research Concept
An infographic created as part of the evaluation of the University of Excellence illustrates the research approach and methodology of our Emerging Field “Forest-Water Dynamics in Climate Change”:
- Measurement and monitoring of the water balance in forest ecosystems (using a multi-scale approach) to understand changes under the influence of climate change
- Identification of leverage points to positively influence the forest water balance and enhance its climate resilience
- Development of novel management strategies for resilient forests of the future, based on a holistic process understanding of the water balance in forests under the influence of climate change
Our Unique Selling Points for Forest-Water Dynamics in Climate Change at TU Dresden:
- Inter- and transdisciplinary approach at the forest-water interface with close interlinkages of the forest, geo and hydro sciences
- Expertise in monitoring, describing, and understanding water, carbon, and energy fluxes across a hierarchy of scales from leaf to globe (multi-scale approach)
- Close cooperation with stakeholders and transfer partners
- World-class long term research infrastructure
