Multi Functional Hydropulser
Table of contents
Functional Description
The Multifunctional Hydropulser is a universal platform for applications from fields of vibration measurements to specific component analysis of elastomer bearings. Therefore the test rig is equipped with several linear cylinders, hydraulic actuators as well as force and position measurement systems.
Main Applications
- Static and dynamic characteristics
- Researching the dynamic transmission behaviour of components up to overall vehicles
- Testing elastomer bearings
- Load testing of any specimen with linear cylinders

Concept
In future the multifunctional testing bench will be used for four essential significant topics: Brakes, NVH, steering and as a universal platform.
With the modular structure it is possible to realize several projects. This testing bench will enlarge the wide range of test applications at the FVZ with an additional, powerful allrounder.
Brake
On the hardware side, the existing braking mass test rig are supplemented by a modern, completely enclosed complete test rig. The conditions in the test chamber can be artificial changed in accordance with the test specifications. Within the replacement of the friction test rig, the control system will be updated and rebuilt from ground up. Furthermore, the brake pressure control system will be extended to a closed loop controlling to enable: the application of pressure characteristic curves.

Steering
The aim is to realize an adjustable steering test rig upon the universal platform on which whole steering systems as well as steering components can be tested under realistic conditions. The modular structure provides the ability to test different load scenarios (incl. temperature conditioning) as well as testing steering systems.

Universal Platform
The basic component of the test facility is the 7 m x 3.5 m functional area, on which several individual testing structures can be implemented. This platform is equipped with an electrical power supply of 600 kW as well as with a 280 bar hydraulic pressure line with an oil volume flow of 225 l/min. Some simple test layouts are listed:
- Passive safety
- Testing possible head injuries
- Seat systems
- Seat comfort
- Simulation of real operating loads of road profiles
- Corrosion testing
- Corrosion test with salt spray mist
- Chassis stiffnesses
- Frame and shaft stiffness of car doors
