DIMA software development
Development of a software package for determining the main dimensions of rail vehicles
At the Chair, in collaboration with the rail vehicle industry, the software package DIMA (DIMensionierungsAnalyse) was developed. It is used for calculating the main dimensions of mainline vehicles and enables the following analyses:
- Determination of the main vehicle dimensions according to the applicable German and European regulations
- Standard and custom report generation, as well as graphical analysis in elevation and cross-section
- Output of the complete 3D vehicle model in STEP format, as well as defined vehicle cross-sections in DXF format
- Calculation of the bogie steering angle in accordance with Standard TGL 32439/01
- Analysis of the end wall geometry and the coupling swing angle
- Investigation of the buffer plate dimensions according to UIC 527-1
The software package is being continuously developed and adapted to the latest changes in the calculation methodology. The program can be purchased through the Institute for Railway Technology GmbH.
