To the peak of knowledge - innovative course
There are hikes that are more than just a walk in nature - they are also a journey to new insights. One such hike took a group of students from the Train Control and Track Safety Systems (ZFS) module to the Zschirnstein in Saxon Switzerland. The hike was not only an opportunity to get to know nature on their doorstep, but also an extraordinary learning space. On the way to the Zschirnstein, the participants presented ETCS Level 2 planning content to each other. The lecturer was less of a knowledge provider and more of a moderator, occasionally asking questions or adding details to encourage further thought. The new knowledge was well internalized through the independent presentation; further questions and ideas could be discussed during the hike.
Conclusion: This type of knowledge transfer requires a little more time than the classic lecture, but leaves more room for further topics. The feedback from the participants was largely positive, as joint discussions and an impressive view contribute to a pleasant learning atmosphere.
