Presentation at "Smart Rail-backboned Multimodal Systems"
On May 10, 2025, the international workshop "Smart Rail-backboned Multimodal Systems" took place at the School of Traffic and Transportation at Beijing Jiaotong University. The event, which followed on from a joint seminar with TU Delft, focused on current research approaches to the efficiency, intelligence and sustainability of multimodal transport systems.
On the TU Dresden side, Shiyao Zhang (Chair of Railway Signaling and Transport Safety Technology) and Dr. Bing Liu (Chair of Railway Operations) made their own contributions. Ms. Zhang spoke on the topic of "Analysis of Critical National Train Control Systems in Europe and Transition with ETCS" and highlighted the diversity of national train control systems in Europe, challenges in the transition to ETCS and selected practical examples of transitions. New terms from ETCS Baseline 4 were also briefly introduced.
Dr. Bing Liu presented approaches to user-centric planning of integrated air and rail traffic under the title "Passenger-Centric Scheduling for Integrated Air-Rail Networks".
The workshop provided a valuable platform for international exchange and professional networking in the field of intelligent transportation systems.
