Zusi in the SIL
The Signalling Laboratory (SIL) of the Chair of Railway Signaling and Transport Safety Technology has long been home to a PRESIM system for interlocking simulation, on which intensive software tests are carried out. The system has now been linked to the Zusi rail simulation system. Zusi - originally developed for amateur rail enthusiasts - is now used for professional training in the railway sector. It authentically simulates infrastructure such as signal systems and level crossings as well as the dynamic properties of traction units and their train control systems.
Both simulations have now been linked, which will enable joint training not only for dispatchers and train drivers in the future. All others working in the rail sector can also use it to sharpen their understanding of the system. The train in Zusi runs according to the route created by PRESIM; at the same time, the status of signals and route elements from PRESIM are displayed in Zusi.
The Chair of Railway Signalling and Transport Safety Technology will now also test this software product professionally and identify use cases for research.
