Smart Rail Connectivity Campus (SRCC)
TUD is a partner in the Smart Rail Connectivity Campus (SRCC) Smart Rail Connectivity Campus (SRCC) network in Annaberg-Buchholz. The goal of this research campus is to drive innovation in smart rail transport. To test such systems, the campus features, among other things, a test track equipped with a 5G campus network.
One project that was successfully implemented in cooperation with the SRCC at the test track in Annaberg-Buchholz is LCX4Rail. LCX4Rail
As part of the project, a section of track there was equipped with LCX (Leaky Coaxial Cables) as antennas for radio coverage. The focus of ITVS’s research was not only to use the LCX infrastructure for communication and data transmission, but also to enable the radio-based tracking of trains and the detection of objects in the danger zone around the track. To this end, test runs were conducted on the equipped route as part of the project.
