Guest Lecture Series - Acknowledgement
In the period from Nov 26 to Dec 3, 2020 exciting guest lectures of three practice partners took place at our chair; due to the current situation completely virtual.
The series of lectures started with the presentation of Claudio Vincenzo in the course "Cost-based Decision Making" on Nov 26. With the topic "Controlling at Lovoo", the VP in Finance & Legal at LOVOO gave an insight into how controlling, in contrast to classic manufacturing operations, can be designed within a web-based company.
The second presentation "Out of the crisis into the fast lane - restructuring at Deloitte" on Dec 3 was held by Thomas Rotter, Director Restructuring Services, Christina Fiedler, HR/Recruiting Financial Advisory and Martin Bormuth, Consultant Restructuring Services (all Deloitte). Martin Bormuth is a former graduate of our chair. In the course of the lecture "Strategic Management and Control" the speakers talked about the management of crisis and upheaval situations as well as concrete measures that are applied when a company is restructured.
The series of lectures concluded with a presentation by Dr. Matthias Schmidt, Senior Manager in the Sustainability Assurance department at Deloitte. During his presentation "Data as a component of external accounting", he showed the participants the importance of dealing with data within corporate accounting. Due to digitalization and the increasing importance of Big Data, cloud computing and artificial intelligence, the ability to generate competitive advantages through data analysis is becoming a crucial success factor for many companies.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to all the speakers for their exciting insights.
It was also great to see how many students participated in the lecture series.
