BDEW Congress 2024 - 2 doctoral students and 15 students from TU Dresden represented at the young talent initiative
This year's BDEW Congress was held in Berlin on June 5 and 6 under the motto "Making it easy together. Energy for all.". High-ranking representatives from politics and industry met to discuss future developments in the industry. This year, the association once again enabled young talents from companies and students to participate in the congress. Around 120 young professionals attended the event in Berlin and gained exciting insights into current issues and the opportunity to network across the industry.
The high-profile agenda over the two days of the congress included political keynotes and panel discussions with prominent guests such as Wolfgang Schmidt, Head of the Federal Chancellery, Dr. Robert Habeck, Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economics and Climate Protection, and Annalena Baerbock, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs.
Discussions focused on current political challenges, how to secure energy supplies and how to move towards a climate-neutral future. Panels featured a range of board members and senior executives covering the full spectrum of the energy industry, from grid-specific to regulatory issues related to the energy transition. The evening events also provided excellent networking opportunities.
15 students from the Chair of Energy Economics, accompanied by research assistants Lisa Lorenz and Lauritz Bühler, followed the invitation and attended the event with great interest.
Our special thanks go to Birgit Henrichs for the excellent organisation of the Young Talent Initiative and her outstanding commitment during the two days.
We would also like to thank Dr. Andreas Stender, Partner at the consultancy firm Kearney, for his support and the valuable exchange at the congress. Furthermore, our thanks go to Kerstin Andreae, Managing Director of BDEW, for her friendly welcome and the successful conference organisation.
We hope to be represented at the congress again next year with many interested students, and are already looking forward to receiving applications from a large number of motivated and energy-enthusiastic students from TU Dresden.
