Congratulations on successfully completed doctorate

The year is drawing to a close on a high note for the Chair of Energy Economics and especially for Mr Lauritz Bühler. On December 16, 2025, he successfully defended his dissertation, submitted to the Faculty of Economics, on the development of electrolysers and the potential for green hydrogen production in the European Union.

During his defence, Mr Bühler provided a clear overview of his doctoral project and engaged in an intensive discussion with the doctoral committee regarding the future role of hydrogen in the German energy system. The doctoral committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Sassen (Chair), Prof. Dr. Möst (Supervisor and Primary Examiner), Prof. Dr. Buscher (Examiner), and Prof. Dr. Kemnitz (Additional Member). The discussion centred on questions regarding the technological development of electrolysers and the anticipated future costs of hydrogen production.
