LKD-EU Workshop in Essen
On July 13, 2018, within the LKD-EU project the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) organized a workshop titled „Key Uncertainties and Scenarios for Future Energy Systems“. The Chair of Energy Economics was represented by Professor Möst, who gave a presentation on “Will the learning curve of PV repeat for Batteries and Electrolysis?”
A total of 100 participants took part in the workshop. Besides the project partners, TUD, TUB, DIW and UDE, students and experts from academia and industry participated.
The other speakers were Enno Harks (BP), Dr. Carsten Rolle (BDI), Dr. Wolf-Peter Schill (DIW), Prof. Miranda Schreurs (TUM), Prof. Christoph Weber (UDE), Prof. Christian von Hirschhausen (TUB) and Stephan Röttgen (BNetzA). Three central questions formed the framework for the presentations:
- "How can we (the society) get to better scenario studies?"
- "How can we (the society) make better use of scenario studies?"
- "How can the authors communicate better on their scenario studies?"
After each session, the participants were able to ask questions, which was used to lively debate the presented topics. The diverseness of participants led to interesting discussions, e.g. the future of electric mobility and the necessity of a transition within the mobility sector, to which the perspectives from industry, regulation and academia provided new food for thought.
