New doctoral student at Boysen-TU Dresden-Research Training Group and at the chair of energy economics: Sophie Jacobs comes on board

Sophie Jacobs, a doctoral student of the Boysen-TU Dresden-Research Training Group and researcher at the chair of energy economics since November 1, 2025, is a young scientist with a strong academic background. She holds a diploma in mechanical engineering with a focus on computer-aided simulation methods and successfully defended her master's thesis in laser physics at TU Dresden. She also holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Economics (specializing in general economics and energy economics) and wrote her Bachelor's thesis on the ecological and economic aspects of energy-efficient building refurbishment.

Sophie Jacobs will be supervised by Prof. Dr. Dominik Möst, Chair of Business Administration, in particular Energy Economics, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Frank Atzler, Chair of Combustion Engineering and Drive Technology, and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Antonio Hurtado, Chair of Hydrogen and Nuclear Energy and RTG spokesperson. The new doctoral student will be part of Cluster H and will work on the interdisciplinary doctoral project H2 entitled "H2 core network: Techno-economic aspects of an environmentally friendly, competitive and secure energy supply". The focus of her research work is on a comprehensive scientific analysis of the European hydrogen core network from a technical, economic and political perspective in order to provide decision-making aids for its development.
